Memorial to Honey
Saturday, June 20, 2009 by Clint.
(photo-collage by my nephew Paul Anglin, Jr.)
This is a photo memorial to our dog Honey who died on 6/19/2009 at the age of 15. She was gorgeous, photogenic, and just as sweet as her name. We loved her dearly and miss her terribly. It will be hard for me to get on without her - my constant companion for so many years. I am grief stricken and heartbroken. These photos of my sweet girl are what I have left.
The other dogs in the photos are Danny (black and white) - he died at the age of 11 on 4/9/2003. The brown and white lab/shepherd mix is Dahlia who died the following day of unrelated causes on 4/10/2003. We got Danny at an age of 8 weeks and Dahlia came to us from Naomi’s parents at the age of 11 1/2 and lived with us until her death at age 13.
The photos are in chronological order. Honey followed my son Lonnie home on Xmas Eve 1996. She did not have a collar or any ID. The first photo ever taken of her was one with my video camera (I didn’t have a digital camera at that time) from which I captured a still frame. We used that photo to make a poster to try and find the owner. After a week the owner came by and got her, but she showed up at our house again about a month later and we took her back again. Then after another couple of months (March 1997) the owner called to say that she was moving to a new place which did not allow dogs and did we want to take her; if not, she would have to take her to the pound. I said we would take her and look for a good home…well, we found one!

In 2006 I wrote and recorded a song about Honey. I later submitted that song for publication on a commercial CD of dog songs and it was accepted - that was my very first commercial release of one of my songs and I have Honey to thank for it! Here is a link to the song:
