Valentine’s Day Birds
Sunday, February 15, 2009 by Clint.
We spent the whole day looking for good bird photography opportunities and we weren’t disappointed. The day was cold but sunny with clear skies - perfect for getting good photos. Revisiting the grasslands of Fort Edward, NY was very fruitful indeed. Here are some of the photos:
The male Eastern Bluebirds are getting their bright blue Spring plumage already….

This Mockingbird is perched precariously atop a skinny reedlike plant….

A Red-tailed hawk kindly posed for a portrait….

This Merlin was perched pretty high up….

There were several beautiful Rough-legged Hawks in lots of great poses, both still and in flight….

The Snowy Owl was kind enough to give me my best photos of it yet! What a gorgeous creature.
