Farm Fall Fotos

It is the peak of the Fall season here and the colors this year are truly glorious. There are many more bright reds and oranges - last summer was a dry summer and there was very little in the way of the reds and oranges. The colors are brilliant and deeply saturated. This past weekend at our farm in the Catskill Mountains was perfect for taking pictures…clear blue skies and lots of sunshine. It can’t be any more beautiful in heaven.

The almost full moon stood just above the tree tops right before sunset. I went up on the hill behind the house and got a great view of the moon rising over the trees:

Our small wood road beside the house is lined with the colors of Fall…

At one end of our pond in the woods the sun was shining through the trees and bushes making them literally glow as if they were burning with an internal flame…

Walking among the trees in the fields was like being in some kind of magical dreamland…

In one field there were lots of milkweeds with their open pods and silky white seeds…

Here in Troy it is almost peak and the colors are just as brilliant…

I came across a Red-bellied Woodpecker with an acorn in its mouth (I didn’t know they ate acorns). I guess he is preparing for the winter because I saw him hide the acorn in a hole in the tree - a cache for the cold weather to come.

I hope these photos give some sense of the glory and beauty of this time of year in our area. Of course, nothing can top seeing it all in person.
