Fall Garden Photos

I put my macro lens on my camera and spent a little time taking some closeup photos in my garden today. It is the end of the season with just a few vegetables remaining in the garden. But there are some other things going on as well.

A few cherry tomatoes are still hanging on (and they still taste good). They make nice subjects for a little closeup photography…

There are lots of nightshade plants with small (about 1/2 inch) red berries dangling in clusters. Nightshade is a wild plant, but notice the similarity between the cherry tomatoes and the nightshade berries (tomatoes are in the nightshade family).

There are a couple of cucumbers waiting to be picked and eaten. I got quite a few nice ones this year and I made lots of cucumber and tomato salads. Here’s a nice looking one:

I stopped weeding the garden a few weeks ago and now there are wildflowers popping up everywhere.

I also came across a couple of visitors to the garden, including a

and a Bold Jumping Spider. This tiny spider is only 1/4 inch in size. It was quite shy and I had to sneak up on it very slowly to get this close.

It kind of looks like she is smiling at me and checking me out with all those eyes. I do believe she has a crush on me :) .

The changing leaves on the vines that cling to the shed behind the garden are one of the first tell-tale signs that Autumn is here….

So that’s a little view of what’s left in the garden.
